Landmark Wholesale has appointed Stuart Johnson as Retail Controller to lead the Group’s Retail Development programme into the next decade.

Stuart has a wealth of experience in the Independent Retail Sector, with specific understanding of Landmark Wholesale’s Hot House and Lifestyle Express Development programme having been Retail Operations Manager with the Group and co-ordinating the roll-out of the programme for the past two years.

He takes over at a crucial period for the Group, as it moves towards the re-launch of Lifestyle Express in Spring 2010. Stuart has been an instrumental part of the team that has developed a comprehensive strategy to be unveiled later this year, that will revolutionise Landmark’s retail programme with significant results already being achieved across pilot stores.

Prior to joining Landmark Wholesale, Stuart was with Landmark Wholesale Member A F Blakemore for over 25 years, with various roles within its retail division including Retail Controller, Retail Marketing Manager on its Independent Spar division and Area Manager on the Tates subsidiary of Spar.

Martin Williams, Managing Director of Landmark Wholesale said: “Stuart’s appointment follows Landmark Wholesale’s policy of looking to promote from within wherever possible.

“As Retail Operations Manager, Stuart was the nuts and bolts of the programme and with his vast knowledge of the Independent Retail Sector and his experience with A F Blakemore he was the ideal candidate to take the Group’s retail strategy forward in what will be a very important phase for us.”

My aim is to continue the fantastic work achieved across the retail division with a focus on delivering a high quality of stores and raising the bar on store standards to make Landmark Wholesale and its Lifestyle Express programme a mainstream, quality and viable alternative to other symbol groups operating within the sector currently.”
